Introduction

The medicinal and nutritional value of grapes (Vitis vinifera) has been heralded for thousands of years. European folk healers developed an ointment from the sap of grapevines to cure skin and eye diseases. Grape leaves were used to stop bleeding, inflammation, and pain, such as the kind brought on by hemorrhoids. Unripe grapes were used to treat sore throats and dried grapes (raisins) were used to heal consumption, constipation, and thirst. The round, ripe, sweet grapes, were used to treat a range of health problems including cancer, cholera, smallpox, nausea, eye infections, and skin, kidney, and liver diseases.

Grape seed oil has a very sweet, light and slightly nutty aroma and a fine texture. It is usually clear in color, at times; it has a tinge of yellow/green.

cosmetic uses

For Skin

Grape seed oil is one of the best oils for stretch marks. It is able to repair damaged and stressed skin tissues, especially skin that needs toning and restoration.

The essential fatty acids help repair damaged skin, wrinkles around the eyes, stretch marks, varicose veins and spider veins by penetrating the skin with their moisturizing properties.

Grape seed has a high content of linoleic acid, a fatty acid essential for the cell membranes and the skin.

Quite thin in consistency, it easily penetrates into the skin. It can help skin retain the normal structure of epithelium cells and nerve cells. This carrier oil lends a shimmering touch to the skin.

Grape seed oil also known as grape oil possesses a few qualities of astringent and thus its application helps to tighten and tone the skin. It is of great use in treating the stubborn acne and other skin problems.

The flavonoids as well as the lipophilic (sesquiterpenes) compounds found in camomile oil help to reduce capillary fragility, which in turn helps to strengthen the skin. The vasoconstrictor properties again help to reduce redness of the skin, which is due to enlarged capillaries.

For Hair

Grape Seed oil is lighter weight than many other oils, such as olive oil, it absorbs into the scalp and hair much faster, and without weighing hair down. Grape seed hot oil treatment leaves your hair moisturized, beautiful and gleaming.
